Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I'm excited to share with you my love of food and all that goes with it!

HELP! Thanksgiving is a week away!

Some   (like my family!) call me the Thanksgiving Queen.  It’s by far my favorite holiday and each year,  I pull all out the stops.  I know in most families, everyone brings a dish.  That doesn’t work for a control freak like me and I really want to enjoy the day myself, so I’m best when I know what’s coming.

Your menu should be planned by now and if not, no worries, I am going to give you some of my favorites!  See the blog on Side Dishes!

How will you ever stay organized??  Here are my tips!

Enter all recipes on your computer .  This way,  if you double a recipe you can edit and put all the correct amounts right in the recipe.  ..Ever find yourself, doubling some ingredients and not the others?? Been there…oops!  Then use the printed copy or computer screen  as you cook.

I find it easiest to tape the recipe EYE LEVEL to your cabinet..You will seriously love me for this.

Make a master list of all ingredients.

Buy all Non perishables now ( before the weekend)  and then cross them off the list.

Don’t forget extra foil!!  As far as storage containers, none are better than those from The Pampered Chef. Leak Proof Containers

  • Divide list based on the stores you will go to.
  • Make a list for items you need to purchase last minute.

Buy your wine ( I delegate this)  and other special beverages ahead, as well as table decorations, candles, and any special linens or napkins.

Order your turkey NOW, if necessary, to be sure you get the size and quality that you want.

Prepare your refrigerator and make space.  It’s a great time to toss!

It’s now the time to bake any cookies and appetizers than can be frozen or put in airtight containers.

Decide what platters/serving pieces you'll be using and pull them out.

HERE'S the cooking Plan

Buy the majority of perishables on MONDAY and TUESDAY

Tuesday is the PREP day!   Go through each recipe and chop, dice and slice.  Store in airtight Prep bowls and containers.  If the food does not fill to the top, cover with a wet paper towel or plastic wrap and then put the lid on.  This keeps the air out and the food fresh.  Take a look at my website for some great Prep Bowls .Use Zip lock bags for the larger quantities.  And yes, get the herbs prepped too!!  Be your own Sous Chef!!

Wednesday is the main Cooking Day.  MOST recipes can be fully prepared on Wednesday.  It will be fun and easy because the hard part is already done! I make one smaller turkey on Wednesday evening and I make my Gravy from that turkey.  Prepare the main turkey so its ready to be popped in the oven on Thursday!

Thursday is turkey day and time to cook the bird , finish the last minute recipes and ENJOY your day! Be GRATEFUL that you prepared in advance!
